Former Cal Inside Linebacker Becomes 43rd Golden Bear To Be Invited To Event

Jackson Sirmon announced that he has accepted an invitation to the 2024 Senior Bowl to take place at the University of South Alabama's Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama this Saturday at Noon CT/10 a.m. PT. The contest, which will be televised live by NFL Network, and is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game with more than 900 NFL team personnel and over 1,100 media expected at this year's event.
Sirmon is the 43rd Cal player to be invited to the game, which began in 1950, and the second in as many seasons after the 2023 selection of Daniel Scott. Cal football legend and current New Orleans defensive end Cameron Jordan became Cal's first Senior Bowl Hall of Fame member when he was inducted with the Class of 2021. Cal has had three Senior Bowl MVP's in quarterbacks Steve Bartkowski (1975), Pat Barnes (1997) and Davis Webb (2017).

Jackson Sirmon, ILB, 6-2, 240 (Brentwood, TN/California/Washington/Brentwood Academy/Loyola HS)
– Played in 51 career games with 34 starts over six collegiate seasons spanning four campaigns at Washington (2018-21) and two at Cal (2022-23)
– Compiled 301 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss (-42 yards), 4.5 sacks (-22 yards), two interceptions that he returned 21 yards, seven pass breakups, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 37 fumble recovery yards, one fumble recovery touchdown, one quarterback hurry and one safety, while also rushing twice on fake punts for six yards and picking up first downs on each occasion
– Started each of the first 18 games possible over his two campaigns at Cal before suffering a season-ending injury against Oregon State in his sixth contest as a 2023 sixth-year senior
– Compiled 153 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss (-32 yards), 4.5 sacks (-22 yards), one interception that he returned one yard, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 37 fumble recovery yards and one fumble recovery touchdown, and one quarterback hurry during his two Cal campaigns
– A first-team All-Pac-12 selection in a vote of the league's coaches as well as by the Associated Press and Pro Football Focus as a 2022 junior at Cal when he started all 12 games and led the team with a career-high 104 tackles while adding career highs of 6.0 tackles for loss (-18 yards) and 3.5 sacks (-12 yards), three pass breakups, 37 fumble recovery yards and one fumble recovery touchdown, as well as a career-high-tying one interception that he returned one yard, and both one forced fumble and one fumble recovery
