LAST TIME OUT: CAL FALLS AT LE MOYNE, 9-6
Cal dropped to 1-1 overall after suffering a 9-6 loss at Le Moyne on Thursday.
Cal allowed the game's first three goals and never led in the contest.
Cal did cut Le Moyne's advantage to a single goal twice in the first half and got within 8-6 after goals from Kennedy Mason with five seconds to go in the third period and Kate Rothman with 12:05 remaining in the fourth, before being held scoreless on only three shots the rest of the way.
Mason and Courtney Wong each had a pair of goals for Cal, while Rothman and Addie Fischer tallied one apiece. Isabel King, Josie Lillquist and Alyssa Studdert each registered a single assist.
Cal nearly doubled Le Moyne's draw control output (11-6), while also holding advantages in shots (25-24), shots on goal (18-13) and ground balls (21-16).

OTHER NOTABLES
Cal is playing an opponent in the opponents' season opener for the third straight contest.
Cal's 19 goals in its season-opening 19-10 home win over Akron on Feb. 9 were its most since a 20-10 home victory over Saint Mary's on April 7, 2017.
Mya Wang had career highs of six goals and seven points against Akron and is Cal's leader in both categories through two games despite not registering a point against Le Moyne.
Mason is Cal's second-leading scorer with six points after a career-high-tying three goals and one assist for a career-high four points against Akron before adding a pair of goals at Le Moyne.
Kennedy Goss continues to rack up the draw controls. With a team-high 14 in the first two games of 2024, Goss has increased her Cal all-time leading total to 216.
Alicia Souliotis lead the Pac-12 in both goals against average (4.31) and save percentage (.636) but has not played enough minutes (55:40 out of a possible 120:00) to be listed among NCAA leaders with the requirement to play in a minimum of 60% of the team's minutes.

Cal has now lost three straight games played in the Eastern Time Zone after Thursday's loss at Le Moyne. In 2022, Cal was swept at Navy and Virginia. Prior to its current three game losing streak, Cal had won five straight games played in the Eastern Time Zone from 2018-20 (UMass-Lowell, George Washington, Mount Saint Mary's, Mercer, Winthrop).
Cal is playing its sixth and final season in the Pac-12 before officially becoming a member of the ACC on Aug. 2, 2024. The Pac-12 began sponsoring women's lacrosse in 2018. The league's 2020 schedule was canceled due to COVID. The Pac-12 added San Diego State and UC Davis for the 2024 season to bring its total members for women's lacrosse to eight. The teams will play a single-round robin regular-season format for the first time after having faced each other twice in league games previously.
Jennifer Wong became only the second Cal head coach to win back-to-back season openers when the Bears defeated Akron last Friday.
After its game Saturday at Cornell, Cal will have a five-game homestand from Feb. 23 - March 12 that will be its longest stretch of consecutive regular-season home games since also playing five in a row at California Memorial Stadium from March 3-16, 2017, as well as one shy of the school record of six straight at home to open the 2007 campaign (Feb. 22 - March 15, 2007).
