BERKELEY – The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game as the California women's basketball team was outscored 32-11 by visiting Arizona on the way to losing 87-68 on Sunday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.
The Wildcats (16-12, 8-8 Pac-12) forced 22 Golden Bear turnovers and converted them into 31 points. Â

Lulu Twidale was a bright spot for the Bears (16-12, 6-10) as she poured in career highs of 24 points (9 of 11) and six triples (6 of 7). The six 3-pointers matched
Ioanna Krimili for the most in a game this season. Kemery Martín hit three 3-pointers for the second time in her last three games.

The Bears tossed in 11 triples for the 11th game this season, leaving them just six shy of the 239 that the 2018-19 team hit – the most in program history since 1999-00.

It was a back-and-forth first quarter as the lead changed seven times. Twidale tied the game at 10-10 with her second triple at the 3:35 mark.
Claudia Langarita followed up with a 3-pointer of her own on the next possession to give the Bears a three-point lead. The Wildcats ended the quarter on an 8-2 run to go into the second quarter up 20-17. Twidale led all scorers with eight points in the quarter.

Arizona opened the second quarter with seven unanswered points to extend its lead to 27-17 in the opening minute before Martín ended the run with a jumper at the 8:17 mark. The Wildcats used a 6-0 run midway through the quarter to extend their lead to 37-21 with five minutes remaining in the quarter. The Bears scored just 11 points in the quarter and went into the break down 52-28.

The Bears opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run and forced four Wildcat turnovers and were down 52-34 at the 6:35 mark. Cal would only get as close as 17 points in the quarter and went into the final frame down 68-46. The Bears were unable to put together a run in the fourth quarter allowing the Wildcats to cruise to the victory.
