No. 17 Cal Hosts No. 6 Stanford For Big Series
Bears Open Seven-Game Homestand
BERKELEY – The No. 17 California softball team opens a season-long seven-game homestand with the Big Series vs No. 6 Stanford this weekend at Levine-Fricke Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday with the series finale slated for a 2 p.m. start on Sunday. All three games will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.

Due to Saturday's rugby game at Witter Field, a shuttle service will be available to take fans from Underhill Parking Garage to Levine-Fricke Field from 1-6 p.m.

- Cal leads the all-time series with Stanford, 79-36, but the Cardinal took two of three last season on The Farm. The Bears won two of three games at Levine-Fricke Field in 2022 and their last sweep in the series came in 2018.  Â

- The Bears check in at No. 11 in the second NCAA RPI of the season. Cal was No. 9 in last week's initial rankings, its highest since reaching No. 2 in 2012.
- The Bears are the first team to 20 wins in the Pac-12 this season (21-4).
- Cal is ranked No. 17 in this week's NFCA poll, No. 19 in the USA Softball and Softball America rankings, while sitting at No. 21 in the D1 Softball rankings.
- The Bears have hit the most home runs in the conference so far this season (40), 13 more than Arizona (27), which is currently in second. The Bears' 36 doubles are second in the Pac-12 behind only Arizona State (44).
- Cal is also among the top three in the conference in several other offensive categories, including hits (208, 3rd), RBI (143, 2nd), extra-base hits (78, 2nd) and runs (156, 3rd).
- Chelsea Spencer earned win No. 100 as head coach of the Golden Bears last weekend at Oregon, where she spent six years as an assistant coach under Mike White from 2013-18.
- Cal won 14 straight games in February, the program's longest win streak since taking 22 in a row in 2013.
- Elon Butler was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Feb. 20 after a standout performance during the Golden Bears' undefeated weekend at the Littlewood Classic. Butler hit .600 (9-for-15) in Cal's five victories, collecting two home runs and two doubles to go with seven RBI. Her 2-run homer tied the game against then-No. 17/21 Virginia Tech as the Bears went on to a 6-5, eight-inning, victory over the Hokies. Â
- Butler is currently leading the conference in home runs (10) and slugging percentage (.909) while sitting seventh in batting average (.409).
- Randi Roelling has been a workhorse in the circle during her first month as a Bear, throwing 67.2 innings with 54 strikeouts to lead the team (6th Pac-12). Her eight wins are tied for second in the conference with one coming against then No. 3/5 Georgia on March 2 at the DeMarini Invitational.Â
