No. 18 Bears Drop Series Finale

Utes Rally In Sixth To Take Series In Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 18 California softball team fell, 3-2, in the series finale to Utah on Saturday at Dumke Family Softball Stadium.

Elon Butler had two hits to pace the Golden Bears (26-10, 4-8 Pac-12). Julia Jiminez drove in a run for the Utes (19-15, 3-9 Pac-12).

Cal fell behind in the first inning on a throwing error that led to a run, but the Bears answered right back in the second when Elon Butler raced home on a throw behind the runner to second base.

Tied 1-1 in the fourth, Lagi Quiroga gave the Bears the lead on an RBI double to score Butler, who laced a double to the wall two pitches prior.

Holding a 2-1 lead into the sixth, Utah rallied in the home half of the inning. The Utes scored on a throwing error and an RBI groundout to go up by a run and Cal went 1-2-3 in the seventh as Utah took the series.
