Cal Is 5-0 At Home This Season

BERKELEY – The California baseball team looks to keep its hot start at home going when rival Stanford comes to Stu Gordon Stadium for a nonconference clash on Tuesday night. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Network with Roxy Bernstein and Wes Clements calling the action. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The Golden Bears (7-3) are coming off a 0-2 weekend in which they fell to Ohio State and Pittsburgh in the Las Vegas Baseball Classic, but are 5-0 at home so far this year.
 
Stanford (6-5) is coming off a road sweep over Rice in Houston. The Cardinal are hitting .263 as a team and averaging 5.5 runs per game, while their pitching staff sports a 6.49 ERA, allowing 70 runs in 97.0 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .254 against Cardinal pitchers.

  • Catcher Caleb Lomavita saw his streak of four consecutive games with a home run snapped in the loss against Pittsburgh on Sunday night. However, he did collect a base hit, extending his hitting streak to five games and his reached base safely streak to 10 games.

The series between the Bears and Cardinal dates back to the very beginning of the baseball program. Reliable records date back to 1959 with Stanford owning a 219-113-1 record. In the Mike Neu era, Cal is 6-15 against Stanford. Last season, the Bears went 1-5 against Stanford. Last time out, Stanford defeated Cal 18-10 in the Pac-12 Championships on May 24, 2023.
