BERKELEY – Tatum Anzaldo recorded three hits with a home run and two RBI but it wasn't enough as Loyola Marymount salvaged the series finale with a 6-3 win over the No. 20 California softball team on Sunday at Levine-Fricke Field.
Anzaldo inched closer to a career milestone with seven hits in the series and the Whittier native is now just two hits shy of 200 for her career.
The Golden Bears (29-11) also got an RBI off the bat of
Tianna Bell. The Lions (17-18) were led by Izzy Jamgotchian who had three hits and drove in three runs.
LMU took its first lead of the series in the third inning when Jamgotchian doubled to make it 1-0. Cal came through in the answer inning during the home half of the frame when Bell singled up the middle to plate
Acacia Anders.
That was as close as the Bears would get with the Lions putting up at least one run in each of the next four innings. Anzaldo's second home run of the weekend came in the fifth and her RBI single in the seventh made it a three-run game, but a flyout ended Cal's chances as LMU avoided the sweep.
