Bears Post Silverado Showdown's Best Round-Two Score
Cal Shoots 3-Over As A Team, Fouillet Jumps Into Top 5
NAPA – The No. 25 California women's golf team tied for the best round-two team score Tuesday at the Silverado Showdown, shooting 3-over-par to move up five spots on the team leaderboard.
Through 36 holes, the Golden Bears are now in ninth place at 16-over 592. On a day where six out of 88 golfers shot under par, Cal freshman
Constance Fouillet led the Bears with a 3-under 69, good for the second-best individual score of the day.
Fouillet (75-69 – 144) moved up 42 spots on Tuesday into a tie for fifth-place individually. She led the Bears with four birdies on the day, putting away three on the first five holes of the back nine. It was her team-leading sixth sub-70 round of the season.
Senior
Cristina Ochoa (73-75) and sophomore
Olivia Lee (76-72) both ended the round tied for second on the team and 31st-place overall at 4-over 148 for the tournament. Lee started out hot shooting 4-under on the front nine. Her eventual even-par 72 was tied for the seventh-best score for the day.
Rina Tatematsu improved her day-one score by three strokes, carding a 3-over 75. She heads into the final round tied for 63rd place with a 9-over 153.
Cal's second-round 3-over tied No. 9 USC for the top score out of the 16 competing teams. The Bears currently trail fifth-place San Jose State by just three strokes.
Round three begins Wednesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. PT.
