No. 20 Cal Wraps Up First ACC Road Trip At SMU
Bears Look For First Win Against Mustangs
DALLAS - The No. 20 California women's basketball team (13-2, 1-1 ACC) looks for its first ACC road win when it takes on SMU (9-5, 1-1) at Moody Coliseum on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT. This game marks the fourth overall meeting between the two programs with SMU owning a 3-0 series advantage, including a win over Cal in the championship game of the Raising The B.A.R. Invitational on Dec. 4, 2022.
In that most recent matchup, the game was tied with two minutes left in the third quarter before the Mustangs got hot in the fourth quarter and used a 16-4 run to secure the win.
A win would give the Golden Bears their best start to a season since 2012-13 (14-2) – a year in which Cal reached the Final Four.
SMU is guided by fourth-year head coach Toyelle Wilson, who guided her team to consecutive WNIT appearances in her first two years at the helm. The Mustangs are led by Nya Robertson (20.1 points per game) and Jessica Peterson, who is averaging a double-double with 10.6 ppg and 12.5 rebounds per game.
Sunday's game will be broadcast on ACC Network with Krista Blunk and Brooke Weisbrod on the call.
