Cal standout and NFF College Football Hall of Fame electee Alex Mack will be honored with an On-Campus Salute during Saturday's game against Duke.
Former California football player and 2025 NFF College Football Hall of Fame electee Alex Mack will be honored jointly Saturday by the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Football Hall of Fame with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute Presented by Fidelity Investments® during the first quarter of the Golden Bears' ACC contest against Duke. Kickoff for the game to be televised by ESPN is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT.
"Alex Mack became one of the most respected linemen in college football, earning first-team All-American honors and anchoring California's front line with intelligence, toughness, and remarkable consistency throughout his career." NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell said. "His intelligence extended to the classroom as the winner of the 2008 Campbell Trophy, and we are thrilled to honor him at California Memorial Stadium as a member of the 2025 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class."
Last January, Mack became the 17th former player and 21st overall member of the Cal football program to be enshrined in the esteemed Hall.
The 2025 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will officially be inducted during the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Dec. 9, 2025. The accomplishments of each member of the class will also be forever immortalized at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
Mack capped his collegiate career in 2008 when the offensive lineman became the only Cal player to ever win the prestigious Draddy Trophy (now known as the William V. Campbell Trophy), college football's premier scholar-athlete award that annually recognizes an individual as the best in the nation for his combined athletic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Mack is the only NFF Hall of Famer in the Class of 2025 to have earned the honor. As a 2008 senior, he was also a team captain and the Pac-10's Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned his second consecutive All-American (Rivals) and Morris Trophy selections as the Pac-10's top offensive lineman, his third straight first-team All-Pac-10 accolade, and his fourth Pac-10 All-Academic selection in a row. He is also a member of both the Cal Athletics and Senior Bowl Halls of Fame.
Mack helped Cal win four bowl games (2005 Las Vegas Bowl, 2006 Holiday Bowl, 2007 Armed Forces Bowl, 2008 Emerald Bowl) and post a 34-17 overall record during his collegiate career with the Bears, who ranked in the top 25 nationally at one point during each of the four campaigns in which he saw action. His 2006 squad tied a single-season school record with 10 wins, while becoming Cal's first Pac-10 co-champions since 1975 and ranking No. 14 in the final AP Top 25. His 2007 team reached as high as No. 2 in the national rankings.
Following his collegiate career, Mack was selected in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns and played 13 seasons in the league with Cleveland (2009-15), Atlanta (2016-20) and San Francisco (2021). He was a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2010's NFL All-Decade Team, a seven-time Pro Bowler and a three-time second-team All-Pro.
