Cal Golf Teams Ready For Memorable Week

Bears To Compete At St. Andrews Links Collegiate

Story Links

California's men's and women's golf teams are preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime experience as they compete at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate in Scotland in a tournament that will be televised by the Golf Channel.

Widely known as the birthplace of golf, St. Andrews will host the Golden Bears, Michigan State, Princeton and the University of St. Andrews in a combined three-day, stroke/match play event.

Monday and Tuesday's stroke play rounds will take place on the Jubilee Course while Wednesday's match play round is set for The Old Course, considered the oldest golf course in the world. It has played host to The Open Championship 30 times, most recently in 2022.

The stroke play format will be slightly different than a typical intercollegiate tournament, with the five of six best scores counting for each team instead of the usual four of five. After two rounds of stroke play, the teams with the two best scores will meet in match play for the championship while the remaining two will compete for the consolation title.

Monday and Tuesday's rounds begin at 1:30 a.m. PT/9:30 a.m. BT with the men teeing off first, followed by the women. Wednesday's match play round is projected to begin at 12:45 a.m. PT/8:45 a.m. BT with the consolation match going first.

Golf Channel's coverage begins at 6 a.m. PT each morning with an encore airing at 10 a.m. PT. Live scoring can be accessed here.
