Cal Volleyball Signs 3 To 2026 Class
Bears Add Pair Of Pin Hitters, Setter
The California volleyball program signed three new players Wednesday to join the team for its 2026 campaign, adding Abby Zimmerman, Anna Flores and Nicole Milosevic to its incoming freshman class.
Abby Zimmerman – OH/OPP | 6-2 | Redondo Beach | Redondo Union High School/SC Rockstar
Zimmerman, an offensive powerhouse, is currently ranked 41st in the nation and third in the state of California with 631 kills on the year. She was selected as an all-region honoree by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) earlier this fall as the latest accolade in a stacked resume that includes two 2024 All-America honors (AVCA Third Team and MaxPreps), an All-California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Division 1 First-Team nod, two-straight
Daily Breeze All-Area selections (2023-24) and the 2024 All-Bay League Most Outstanding Player award. Zimmerman has competed at the USA Volleyball (USAV) Junior National Championships in each of the past three years, winning the national title and MVP honors with her club team in 2024 followed by a third-place finish and all-tournament recognition in 2025.
A three-sport athlete, Zimmerman has also excelled in beach volleyball and basketball throughout her high school career. In the former, she has reached the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division1 Finals in each of the past two years, earning the championship title in 2025, and won the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) 18U and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Co-ed titles this past summer. As a basketball player, Zimmerman was named to the All-Bay League Second Team in 2025 and has collected three all-tournament nods, including two MVP awards.
Zimmerman is the daughter of Cal volleyball alumnae and Cal Athletics Hall of Famer Lisa Arce Zimmerman, who played on the professional beach volleyball circuit for many years and won a silver medal at the 1997 World Championships. Arce Zimmerman also acted as the first alternate for Team USA at the 2000 Olympic Games.
"While our staff was watching Abby during the recruiting process, we knew that she would be a great fit for our program," Cal volleyball head coach
Jen Malcom said. "Abby is a go-getter, and her knowledge of the game is one of the best in the class. Her ability to see the court and use an array of shots to score will give opponents fits for the next four years. Abby bleeds Blue and Gold and, while following in her mom's footsteps, will write her own story when she sets foot on campus."
Anna Flores – S | 6-1 | Keller, Texas | Keller High School/Texas Advantage
A 2025 AVCA All-Region selection and PrepVolleyball 17U First-Team All-American, Flores leads her district with 72 service aces and is third with 704 assists on the year. Her accolades over the past year also include a runner-up finish at the USAV Open National Championships, a "Top 10 Player in Texas" selection by PrepDig and a Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) 5/6A All-Star nod. In the preceding year, she was named a PrepVolleyball 16U All-America Honorable Mention (2024), a TGCA 6A All-State selection (2024) and a USAV Open National Championships All-Tournament nod. As a freshman in 2022, Flores was named First-Team All-District 4-6A and led her team to the state finals, then was named the district's Setter of the Year in each of her next two seasons.
Like Zimmerman, Flores is the daughter of a former Cal athlete, as her father Ron played football and baseball for the Golden Bears. She is set to enroll early and join the team this spring.
"Anna is one of the top setters in the class and has proven it time and time again on the court," Malcom said. "Because she played for one of the best teams in the nation during her career, Anna is not a stranger to winning on the big stage. We are very excited to have her come in and pair up with Mari (Știrbu) this spring so they can push each other to make this team better offensively. She brings a passion and love for Cal with her and knows what it means to be all in."
Nicole Milosevic – OH/OPP | 6-4 | Toronto, Ontario | Colegio Atlantico/PELAmora Sport Club (Portugal)
A transplant from Canada who now plays in Portugal, Milosevic helped lead her squad to a conference title as a freshman and was named MVP of the Toronto West club team. She wasted no time in making an impact on the European volleyball scene, joining one of the top clubs (Sporting CP) in Portugal and playing in the U21 Club National Championships in each of the past three years, earning a silver medal in the 2023-24 season and also recording a stint with the Serbian U18 National Team; in 2024, she led Sporting CP from a Division 2 ranking to a top-five Division 1 ranking in the same season.
Milosevic, who now plays for PELAmora Sport Club, has regularly played on teams three-to-four age groups above her own and has earned MVP honors multiple years in a row. She has also excelled in swimming, tennis, gymnastics and dance.
"We are excited to get Nicole to campus and work with her," Malcom said. "Although we haven't been able to work with her at camps due to her living overseas, we know she is putting in the time with her club team over in Portugal. Her presence at the net will be a huge factor for us in the future, as she is massive on the block and contacts the ball at a different height than what we see currently in the gym. It will be fun to have her international style of ball here, where we can explore how to merge it with our own style to make her the best player we can."
