Cal Heads To Hoopfest In Texas
Bears Face Grand Canyon Monday, Auburn Wednesday
After a successful 5-0 homestand, the California women's basketball team hits the road to participate in the Hoopfest event at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The Golden Bears (5-1) will first take on Grand Canyon (1-5) on Monday at 5 p.m. PT before facing Auburn (6-0) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. PT.
This is just the second meeting between the Bears and Lopes with Cal winning the sole matchup, 72-53, on Dec. 29, 2019 at Cal.
Grand Canyon is coming off a 32-3 season in which it won the WAC Tournament title and earned an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Lopes are led by first-year head coach Winston Gandy and feature a pair of double-digit scorers in Chloe Mann (12.6 ppg) and Ale'jah Douglas (11.6 ppg).
A win against the Lopes will give Cal its second win this season against a team from the 2025 NCAA Tournament after having already defeated Harvard at its annual Raising The B.A.R. Invitational last week.
Monday's game will be streamed on Flo Sports.
