Lee, Lechno-Wasiutynski, Silva, Alums completed tournaments this weekend
ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - California men's tennis freshman
Winston Lee completed play at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational over the weekend at the Jack Kramer Club.Â
Lee, the lone Cal representative, continued his blazing start to the season, finishing with a 3-0 singles record. Lee defeated players from Pacific, Santa Barbara and Cal Poly over the weekend. His win over Cal Poly's Luc Hoeijmans marked his 10th singles win of his collegiate career.Â
HARLINGEN, Texas - Sophomore
Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski and senior
Tiago Silva completed their play at ITF's M25 Harlingen.Â
Lechno-Wasiutynski and Silva paired up for the first time this season and competed in the doubles main draw. The duo, seeded fourth, defeated two duos to make it to the quarterfinals but fell just short of the semifinals. They also each competed in the singles draw with Lechno-Wasiutynski falling in the second round and Silva falling in the second round of qualifying.Â
TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec - Cal assistant coach and alumnus
Theo Dean competed in the M15 Trois-Rivières in Canada and had outstanding results. On the singles side, Dean defeated a combined six players representingCanada, the U.S., France and Morocco to make it to the final. In the final, Dean just fell short to top-seeded Daniel Milavsky, losing in three sets. Dean also competed on the doubles draw alongside former Baylor player Oskar Brostrom Poulsen. The pair took down three other teams to make it to the final in which they defeated the top seed in straight sets to win the championship. This was Dean's second doubles professional title and his first singles professional final.
BRISBANE, Australia - Former Cal star
Carl Emil Overbeck, who graduated in the spring, also took part in an ITF pro tournament over the weekend, competing at the M25 Brisbane. Overbeck reached the finals in both singles and doubles but fell short in both. On the singles side, he defeated ATP players who were ranked 325th, 422nd and 611th during the tournament. Overbeck will move into the top 750 in the world rankings next week.Â
