Berta Passola Folch and the Bears ride an eight-match winning streak into Florida.
The 17th-ranked California women's tennis team travels back to the East Coast this week to play No. 65 Florida State on Friday and No. 69 Miami on Sunday. With six ACC matches remaining in the regular season, Cal is tied with No. 4 North Carolina and No. 9 Duke for first place in the conference standings, with each team boasting a 6-0 record.
Florida State and Miami – both at 3-3 – are tied for ninth in the ACC.
Cal's matches in the Sunshine State will be among those featured on the Cracked Racquets ACC CrossCourt Cast on ACCNX.

Alsola Mushika Earn ACC Weekly Honors

Jessica Alsola was named the ACC Player of the Week and paired with
Mao Mushika to earn the ACC Doubles Team of the Week award, the conference office announced Tuesday. The Bears were honored for their play in Cal's recent victories at No. 2 Virginia and No. 54 Virginia Tech.
Last Friday in Charlottesville, Virginia, the 12th-ranked Cal tandem of Mushika and Alsola trailed top-ranked Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky 4-1 before rallying to win 7-6(4) and clinch the doubles point of an eventual 4-1 win over the Cavaliers. On Sunday against the Hokies, Alsola paired with a different partner –
Greta Greco Lucchina – to clinch the doubles point in a 6-4 win over Arina Gamretkaia and Tara Gorinsek. Alsola, ranked 115th, later bested 30th-ranked Ozlem Uslu 6-1, 6-4 in singles in Cal's 6-1 triumph. After a strong weekend in Virginia, Alsola improved her singles record to 13-8 and her doubles record to 14-7, while Mushika and Alsola improved to 8-3 in doubles.
This marks Cal's second ACC Player of the Week award, including Mushika's accolade on Jan. 14, and the first conference doubles honor for the Bears.

Mao Mushika defeated 24th-ranked Sara Ziodato 7-6(4), 6-3 to clinch Cal's victory over the Cavaliers, while freshman
Naomi Xu topped Laima Frosch 6-3, 6-2 to secure the win over Virginia Tech and lead Cal to its eighth straight victory.

Scouting Cal
- Singles All-American Katja Wiersholm has a record of 8-5
- Wiersholm was one of four Bears – including Mao Mushika, Lan Mi and Jessica Alsola – who competed in the NCAA individual championships at Baylor in the fall
- Wiersholm advanced to the NCAA singles round of 16 to earn All-America singles honors in Waco, Texas
- Alsola, who paired with Mushika at NCAA doubles in Waco, has an 8-3 doubles record with Mushika and is 13-8 in singles
- Mushika, a sophomore who reached the second round of NCAA singles, has 16-9 singles mark
- Mushika was the first Bear to earn a weekly ACC honor when she was named the ACC Player of the Week on Jan. 14 after posting records of 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles in the Cal Winter Invitational
- Mi, a senior who also advanced to the NCAA singles second round, has a 20-6 singles record
- One of Mi's wins – a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Dania Deafi – clinched Cal's win over Grand Canyon in the opening match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 24 in Berkeley
- Berta Passola Folch, a junior, is 17-8 in singles
- Sophomore Tiziana-Marie Schomburg is 10-5 in singles
- Freshman Greta Greco Lucchina, who joined the Bears in early January, is 11-4 in singles
- Greco Lucchina beat Tyra Richardson 6-4, 6-3 to record one of those 11 wins and clinch Cal's 6-1 rout of UC Santa Barbara on March 1 in Berkeley
- Freshman Naomi Xu is 11-8 in singles
- First-year Bear Sophie Hernandez is 12-6 in singles
- Amanda Augustus – a Cal Athletics Hall of Famer, two-time NCAA doubles champion, 2021 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and five-time ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year – is in her 18th year as head coach at her alma mater

- FSU beat Miami 4-3 last Wednesday at home and won at SMU 4-3 last Friday
- Eva Shaw is ranked 112th in singles
- In doubles, Amelia Bissett and Maria Juliana Parra Romero are ranked 84th, while Shaw and Juliana Parra Romero are ranked 89th
- Jennifer Hyde is in her 21st season as head coach of Florida State

- Miami hosts Stanford on Friday
- The Hurricanes played three times last week, beating Stony Brook 7-0 at home and losing at Florida State 4-3 and at SMU 4-2
- In singles, Alexa Noel is ranked 63rd and Raquel Gonzalez is ranked 109th
- Gonzalez and Xinyi Nong are ranked 25th in doubles
- Paige Yaroshuk-Tews is in her 24th season as head coach of Miami
