Cade Uluave Named Season Captain

Junior Inside Linebacker To Serve In Role For First Time

Travers Family Head Coach Justin Wilcox announced Tuesday that Cade Uluave will serve as the team's season captain for the 2025 campaign. The Golden Bears' junior inside linebacker will be in the role for the first time. He was a game captain for Cal's contest against Miami in 2024.

"It's a blessing and a cool opportunity to be named the captain," Uluave said."It puts me in a role to be a leader on the team. I want to be a resource and someone that everyone can turn to."

"Cade is everything you're looking for in a captain," Wilcox added. "He's a tireless worker and a competitor to the bone. Cade shows great leadership qualities and is a tremendous example for other guys on the team."

Three additional game captains will join Uluave for each contest in 2025.

Cal opens its 2025 season against Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon, this Saturday (7:30 p.m. PT, ESPN) before welcoming Texas Southern for its home opener the following Saturday on Sept. 6 (3 p.m. PT, ACCNX/ESPN+). All Cal games can also be heard on KSFO 810 AM.
