In its first home matches of the 2026 season, the No. 15 California Golden Bears (4-0) defeated the Cal Poly Mustangs (0-1), 7-0, and the San Diego State Aztecs (1-2), 4-1, at Hellman Tennis Complex on Friday.

To begin the morning, Cal jumped out to a 1-0 lead after doubles wins on courts one and three. On court one, Tiago Silva and Timofey Stepanov won 6-3, while teammates Alex Aney and Lenn Luemkemann clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory of their own.

In singles play against the Mustangs, Fryderyk Lechno Wasiutynski gave the Bears their second point of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 straight-set victory on court three. Next, on court two, Timofey Stepanov inched Cal closer to a match victory after he won in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-4. Finally, on court one, Tiago Silva fought back to win in three sets to secure a victory for the Golden Bears.

Despite the match already clinched, Lee, Munk Mesa and Pounatcha each picked up victories.

In its second match of the day, the Bears quickly gained the doubles point advantage after Tiago Silva and Timofey Stepanov won, 6-0, on court one. Then, on court three, Paris Pouatcha and Bernardo Munk Mesa clinched the doubles point for Cal with a 6-4 win.

With a 1-0 lead entering singles play, the Bears extended its lead after Fryderyk Lechno Wasiutynski gave Cal its second point for the second consecutive match. Then, on court five, Bernardo Munk Mesa gave Cal its third point with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Finally, on court six, freshman Leonardo Cattaneo clinched the victory for the Bears with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
