BERKELEY – The No. 4 California women's water polo team packed the scoresheet with 11 Golden Bears in the goal column with a 21-7 victory over No. 12 San José State. In the finale of Cal's Brigitte Donner Daws Memorial Invitational, the Bears manufactured a 6-0 surge to put the visiting Spartans out of reach in the second half at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

Four Bears finished up with hat tricks on the night -- Feline Voordouw, Despoina Drakotou, Rosalie Hassett and Holly Dunn -- while Harper Price and Mackenzie Walker both scored their first goals of the year for Cal.

The game opened with Voordouw unleashing a burning backhand to get Cal on the board early. Abbi Magee followed off a feed from Dunn, who would serve up a whopping five assists on the night for the Bears to go along with her three goals. The Spartans got on the board next, but the Bears tore off on that six-goal rally that featured a pair of goals from Drakotou and Hassett to build an 8-1 lead in the first half. 

Cal pinned up eight more goals in the third period of play. Voordouw, Drakotou and Hassett each had their hat tricks in place by the end of that frame, while Nieve Courtney joined the scoring party to help Cal ahead 14-5. Dunn notched her first later in the third, and goalie Talia Fonseca had the final word with a skipper from distance that beat the buzzer for a 16-6 Cal lead entering the fourth. That's where Harper Price punched up her first goal as a Golden Bear, and Mackenzie Walker went back-to-back after two Dunn blasts to help top off Cal's 21-7 victory.

NEXT: Cal transitions to a one-game week ahead, hosting Pacific for a 5:30 p.m. nonconference clash on Jan. 31 at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

NOTABLE:
- With three goals each today, Feline Voordouw and Despoina Drakotou have both had multi-goal outings in all five Cal games.
- Freshman Harper Price scored her first goal as a Bear today.
- Drakotou (3 goals), Dunn (3) and Mackenzie Walker (2) all tied their career highs today.
