Junior guard Gisella Maul of the California women's basketball team was named a U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Ann Meyers Drysdale Player of the Week honoree, it was announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon. Maul joins four other players across the country who received the weekly accolade, which is drawn from weekly conference honors as well as at-large additions. She becomes the seventh ACC player this season to earn the recognition.

Maul was recognized after averaging a double-double of 18.5 points and 12.0 rebounds to go along with 4.0 assists and 3.0 3-pointers last week, helping the Golden Bears to wins at Georgia Tech and Pitt for their first-ever ACC weekend road sweep since joining the conference last year. She shot over 50% from the field and from 3-point range  and was just one of two players across the country to do so  while also grabbing at least 20 rebounds for the week.

Maul was the only guard and one of only three players in the ACC to record two double-doubles for the week and is now just one of four guards in the ACC with five total double-doubles on the season. Since the start of the new year, she leads all guards in the ACC with four double-doubles and is one of 13 guards across the country with at least four double-doubles in 2026. During that time, Maul is also the only player in the country to shoot over 50% from the field and deep (min. 40 3PA) while pulling down at least 80 rebounds.

In a 63-56 win over Georgia Tech, she finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and five assists and came up clutch with 10 fourth-quarter points. The Yellow Jackets cut the Bears' lead to one possession on four separate occasions in the fourth period, and each time Maul answered with a two or 3-pointer to prevent the Yellow Jackets from taking the lead, including a baseline jumper with 35 seconds left that put Cal up by five.

In a 95-80 victory at Pitt, Maul put up a career-high 20 points (11 in the first quarter) and tied her career high with five 3-pointers (three in the first half) on 5-of-8 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds.
