STANFORD – The California men's gymnastics team fielded several new faces in its lineups in the Golden Bears' penultimate meet of the regular season, overcoming a shaky start to finish with one of its most impressive rotations of the year at Stanford's Burnham Pavilion on Saturday. Stanford, which was celebrating its senior day, won the meet with a score of 322.700, followed by Cal (311.550) and Air Force (308.100). The Cardinal also welcomed Team France (305.300) and Team Quebec (289.150) as non-collegiate guests.

For the third consecutive week, sophomore Matteo Bardana posted the top all-around score in the nation, finishing the evening with a 77.800. Freshman Nathan Underhill earned a share of his first collegiate event title, posting a 14.350 on vault.

Cal started off the night on pommel horse, with freshman Davide Comparin leading off and posting a team-high 12.850 to lead the Bears. The squad fared better on rings thanks to a trio of sticks from Bardana (13.000), Underhill (13.150) and sophomore Troy Nuesca (12.800), finishing with a total of 51.750, then notched a pair of 14-plus scores on vault thanks to the efforts of Underhill and redshirt senior Jasper Smith-Gordon (14.300).

After a difficult outing on parallel bars (with Bardana's 12.950 leading the team), the Bears found their mojo on high bar with another three-stick rotation. The first belonged to junior Jaxon Mitchell, who matched his personal best with a score of 13.000, after which the green flag was also raised for sophomore Evan Wenstad (13.300) and Bardana (13.250). Wenstad's result was especially noteworthy – in addition to being a team best, it was also just his second routine ever for the Bears in competition, with his first coming just a few minutes earlier in the previous rotation.

For their final event of the night, the Bears debuted a nearly all-new floor lineup, with only senior Kaien Orion having appeared once for Cal this year. Rookie JD Ehinger made the most of his leadoff spot with a crackling collegiate debut, posting the best execution score of any man on floor (9.350) and sticking his dismount for a massive score of 14.150 to surpass the modern program record set by senior Khalen Curry in 2025. Classmate Will Horenziak posted a solid collegiate debut of his own in the No. 2 spot, earning a 13.550, followed by another impressive score from Wenstad (13.900) and a season-best, stuck-dismount 13.600 from Orion to clinch a total score of 55.200 – a modern program record. Not to be outdone, however, Bardana finished his all-around outing with a floor score of 14.200, claiming the program record for his own on the way to his third straight combined-event title.
