Matteo Bardana has been named the CGA Gymnast of the Week for his outstanding performance last Saturday at the Stanford International Collegiate, as announced by the CGA on Wednesday.
Competing in his first collegiate all-around, the native of Oakville, Ontario, put up a score of 78.050 that ranked tops of all gymnasts wearing a collegiate uniform that week. His standout scores included a personal-best 13.900 on parallel bars and a 13.700 on floor as well as a stuck dismount on high bar (13.350).
This is the first CGA weekly award for Bardana and his second weekly award overall, having earned an MPSF Freshman of the Week nod in 2025. He is the first Cal student-athlete to earn CGA Gymnast of the Week honors since Yu-Chen Lee in 2022. Bardana joins teammate
Nathan Underhill as 2026 CGA weekly honorees, with Underhill being named the Co-Rookie of the Week on Jan. 14.
The Bears and Bardana will be back in action this Saturday at top-ranked Oklahoma, with the first rotation scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. PT/6 p.m. CT.
