A Trio Of Bears Set For WNBA Training Camps
Camp Begins April 19
The California women's basketball team has three former Golden Bears who will be competing at a WNBA training camp starting this Sunday. Jaelyn Brown '20 will be with the Seattle Storm, Michelle Onyiah '25 is with the New York Liberty and
Sakima Walker '26 will be with the Minnesota Lynx.
Brown has previous WNBA experience as she made the roster for the 2024 Dallas Wings and appeared in 14 games with one start. That season she averaged 2.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game and also shot 50.0% from 3-point range. She also had stints with the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun.
After graduating following the 2024-25 season, Onyiah signed on to play overseas for Basket Namur Capitale in the Belgian Top Division. For the 2025-26 season, she was a main contributor averaging almost a double-double at 12.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game to go along with 1.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per contest. She also appeared in six games for Basket Namur Capitale at this year's EuroCup.
Walker set career highs across the board in her lone season with the Bears this year. She led the team in double-doubles with eight and was the only player on the team to start all 36 games. Walker finished the season second on the team in scoring (12.5) and led the team in rebounding (6.9) and total blocks (71). Her 56.7% from the field ranked second in the ACC and she also had 15 multi-block games, which ranked third. Her best game came in the second round of the WBIT at Kansas State when she finished with career highs of 28 points and 16 rebounds.
The 2026 WNBA regular season officially tips off May 8.
