Eddy Named ACC Pitcher Of The Week

Sophomore Earns Program’s First Weekly Honor

BERKELEY – After a tremendous performance on the road last weekend, sophomore right-hander Gavin Eddy of the California baseball team was named ACC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday.

Eddy struck out a career-high 14 batters Saturday against No. 23 Virginia to become the first Golden Bear to win an ACC weekly honor. It was the most strikeouts recorded by a Cal arm since Kevin Miller struck out 15 on the road at San Francisco on March 29, 2011.

Eddy struck out the side in the first inning and took a no-hitter into the fifth en route to a seven-inning outing where he allowed just one earned run on three hits and two walks. His sole run allowed scored on a dropped third strike which gave the sophomore a no-decision in what would be a 2-1 loss for the Bears.
