LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The California track & field team turned in another set of outstanding performances Friday at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park on Friday, totaling eight scoring finishes, three qualifiers to Saturday's finals and three All-ACC honors on Day 2 of the ACC Outdoor Championships.

Among these performances was a new program freshman record as long jumper Caitlyn Johnson recorded a massive personal best on her second attempt, touching the sand at 6.21m (20-4.5) to surpass the previous program benchmark by four feet (Malaina Payton, 2010) and record a point for Cal with an eighth-place finish. Three of Johnson's four legal jumps cleared six meters, with her fifth (6.14m/20-1.75) also clearing the Bears' former freshman record. Classmate Avery Hart posted a PR of her own in the event, traveling 6.07m (19-11) on her first jump.

Two more Cal long jumpers scored in the men's contest. Junior Chukwunonso Udeh had the meet of his life, improving his career best to 7.50m (24-7.25) on his second attempt and bettering it to a fifth-place 7.62m (25-0) on his fourth leap to claim his first Second-Team All-ACC nod. Sophomore Trevor Rogers placed seventh with a mark of 7.45m (24-5.5).

Both of Cal's decathletes scored for the Bears, as redshirt junior Luke Buddie was named Second-Team All-ACC for the first time in his career with a sixth-place score of 7266 and freshman Antonio Bayon finished eighth at 6802 points. Buddie overcame a difficult start to his day with a strong finish to improve his career-best total, including a win in the javelin with a season-best throw of 55.04m (180-7) and a third-place time of 4:41.10 in the 1500m. For his part, Bayon uncorked a PR of 39.95m (131-1) in the discus before placing third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.65m (15-3), also surpassing 50 meters in the javelin with a mark of 50.69m (166-3).

Redshirt junior Nik Iwankiw finished fourth in the men's shot put for Second-Team All-ACC status, with his best throw sailing 18.13m (59-5.75). Junior Lucija Leko placed eighth in the women's competition to pick up a point as her first throw was marked at 15.38m (50-5.5), while classmate Victor Ezike Jr. tied for seventh place to score in the high jump with a top clearance of 2.04m (6-8.25).

Sophomore Aidan Orias became Cal's first ACC 100m Final qualifier since joining the conference, posting a wind-aided PR of 10.38 in the preliminary heats. The 100m hurdles duo of sophomore Inara Ukawuba and senior Saqqara Ruffin likewise advanced to their Saturday final, with Ukawuba recording her own wind-aided PR of 13.17 and Ruffin finishing in a wind-aided 13.31.

The Golden Bears' men currently sit in sixth place with 23 points, while its women are in seventh with 21 points. Virginia (64 points) holds a 19-point advantage over the men's field and host Louisville (36 points) lead the women's teams by a narrow four-point margin.
