Kenady Earns Freshman First-Team All-America Honors
Cal Star Named Top Rookie Shortstop
The accolades continue to roll in for California shortstop
Jett Kenady, who was named a Perfect Game Freshman First-Team All-American on Thursday.
Kenady, who was named a Freshman Second-Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Monday, adds this honor of being the top rookie shortstop in collegiate baseball to his resume. He was also named to the ACC All-Freshman team and to the Baseball America Freshman of the Year watch list.
A key piece of the Golden Bears' lineup throughout the 2026 season, Kenady delivered a steady presence and showed the ability to perform in big moments. He played and started in 51 games and ranked second on the team in batting average (.320), OPS (.923), runs (36), slugging percentage (.573) and home runs (11), while leading the team with 17 doubles. Kenady ranked third or better in every major offensive statistical category.
Last Saturday, Kenady announced his return to Cal for the 2027 season via social media. He will be a key member of the Bears' youthful roster that featured 18 freshmen and 28 newcomers this year.
