Zhou Earns All-Conference Recognition

Sophomore Is First Cal Golfer To Garner All-ACC Honors

California men's golf sophomore Ziqin Zhou was named to the 2026 Men's Golf All-ACC Team, as announced by the conference Friday. Zhou became the first Cal golfer to earn All-ACC honors.

"Earning All-ACC means a lot to me as a sophomore," Zhou said. "It means we are doing the little things right to be able to be outstanding in such a far away and competitive conference. I feel proud being in this position as a Golden Bear, and I believe it's just the beginning for us."

This is Zhou's second postseason honor this week after earning GCAA All-American honorable mention honors on Wednesday.

Zhou had a standout sophomore season for the Bears, playing in 10 events and 29 rounds. He posted the lowest scoring average on the team at 70.10, the seventh-best mark in program history.

Zhou had seven top 10 finishes this season, including becoming Cal's first ever individual ACC Champion. Zhou shot an 8-under-par 240 to tie for the lead with Stanford's Edan Cui and Duke's Ethan Evans  in the three-day competition on April 23-25. Zhou then won a three-hole playoff to become Cal's fifth overall individual conference champion and the first since Collin Morikawa won the Pac-12 Championship in 2019.

Zhou had 19 rounds under par this season, including 12 rounds in the 60s, with an 18-hole low round of 64 at the Cabo Collegiate, a tournament he finished tied for second with an 8-under-par 205.

Zhou also had top 5 finishes at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, where he finished tied for third place with a 6-under-par 204, and The Tindall, where he finished in fifth place with an 8-under-par 208.

"Our team is so happy for Ziqin," Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Michael Wilson said. "He's competed hard each day in our team practices, qualifying rounds and on the course in tournaments. The result of all those meaningful reps in addition to his passion for the game led to some great achievements on the course this past year. He's just getting started and we're excited to see him lead the Bears to big things in the years ahead."

Zhou was one of 15 players selected to the All-ACC team, while Ben James Sr. from Virginia won ACC Men's Golfer of the Year, Carson Bertagnole from UNC won ACC Freshman of the Year and Bowen Sargent from Virginia won ACC Men's Golf Coach of the Year. The full release can be found on theacc.com
