2024: Competed in six outdoor meets for the Bears… threw the hammer 55.93m (183-6) and the discus 52.53m (172-4) at the 129th Big Meet… posted a discus mark of 51.03m (167-5) at the Mt. SAC Relays… threw the hammer 53.25m (174-8) at the Hornet Invitational.

2023: Threw the discus in seven outdoor meets… recorded a mark of 53.97m (176-6) at the 128th Big Meet… at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, finished third at 52.69m (172-10)… threw 52.98m (173-10) at the 44th Aztec Invitational… opened up his outdoor season with a mark of 52.18m (171-2) at the Cardinal Classic.

2022 (Outdoor): Competed in eight meets for the Bears… finished fourth in the discus throw at the Big Meet with a mark of 52.24m (171-5)… posted a throw of 53.83m (176-7) at the Long Beach Invitational… threw the shot put 15.64m (51-3.75) at the Mt. SAC Relays… took fourth in the discus at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational with a throw of 52.68m (172-10)… reached a personal best of 54.01m (177-2) in the discus at the Aztec Invitational… finished second in the shot put (15.25m/50-0.5) and third in the discus (52.28m/171-6) at the Cardinal Classic… won both the shot put (16.58m/54-4.75) and the discus (49.38m/162-0) competitions at the Cal Opener, reaching a personal best in the former.

2022 (Indoor): Competed in three meets for the Bears… posted a personal-best mark of 17.25m (56-7.25) in the shot put at the Pac-12 Invitational… at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, threw the shot put 16.58m (54-4.75).

2021: Competed in four outdoor meets for the Bears… set a new personal record in the shot put with a heave of 15.59m (51-1.75), the Pac-12’s 21^st-best mark of the season, at the Cal-USC Dual… at the Stanford Invitational, reached the Pac-12’s 24^th-best mark of the season in the discus throw with a mark of 49.29m (161-8)… also threw the shot put 15.31m (50-2.75) at that meet… took second place in the discus throw at the Cal-Sac State Dual, posting a mark of 48.86m (160-4).

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-time All-Ohio honoree… took second place in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put at the 2020 Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) D1 Indoor State Championship… came in sixth place in the discus throw at the 2019 New Balance Nationals Outdoor finals… also competed in the shot put and the hammer throw at that meet… was an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Outdoor Championship finalist in the discus and shot put, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively… competed in the weight throw at the 2019 New Balance Nationals Indoor meet… participated in the shot put and the weight throw at that year’s OATCCC D1 Indoor State Championship… in 2018, reached the OHSAA D1 Region 2 finals in the shot put… also played rugby and football for Avon Lake High School.

PERSONAL: Majored in psychology… aiming for a career in law enforcement or finance… son of Karen and John Wirtz… father was on the Cal football and track & field teams… mother was a member of Cal’s dance team.
