2023 (Outdoor): Competed in eight meets for Cal… finished the 110m hurdles in 14.02 at the NCAA West Preliminary… won bronze at the Pac-12 Championships with his 110m hurdles time of 13.88, third-best in the conference that season… won the 110m hurdles at the Big Meet with a time of 14.08… ran the 400m hurdles in 53.18 at the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays… posted a 110m hurdles time of 14.05 at the 44th Aztec Invitational.

2023 (Indoor): Appeared in three meets for the Bears… ran the 60m hurdles in 7.92 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational… ran the fifth-best 60m hurdles time in program history (7.87) at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational.

2022 (Outdoor): Competed in four meets for the Bears… placed third in the 110m hurdles at the Stanford Invitational with a personal-best time of 14.22… won the 110m hurdles race at the Aztec Invitational with a time of 14.54 and posted a personal record of 22.10 in the 200m dash.

2022 (Indoor): Appeared in five meets for the Bears… took third place in the 60m hurdles at the Pac-12 Invitational with a time of 8.08 in the finals and 8.05 in the prelims… at the WSU Invitational, finished the 60m hurdles race in 8.11… set the ftsix-best 60m hurdles time in Cal history at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational at 7.97.

HIGH SCHOOL: Took first place in the 300m hurdles and second place in the 110m hurdles at the 2021 Nor Cal Championships… invited to the 2021 Arcadia Invitational, where he placed third in both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles… in 2019, placed 10^th in the semifinals of the 110m hurdles at the USA Track & Field (USATF) National Junior Olympic Championships… he also competed in the 400m hurdles at the USATF Junior Olympics… at the 2019 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) North Coast Section (NCF) Meet of Champions, competed in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles… Bates’ team took fourth place in the 4x400m relay at the NCS Bayshore Championships… in 2018, competed in the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles at the NCS Bayshore Championships… reached the finals in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays at the Tri-County Athletic League (TCAL) Championship Trials… was a member of the 3M Track Club.
