Iancin Earns First Team All-Pac-10 Honors in Softball

BERKELEY - Senior second baseman Lisa Iancin, who is batting .340 this season for the 10th-ranked California softball team, has been named first team All-Pac-10.

Iancin is the first Cal player to earn first-team honors since 1997. In addition to her career-best batting average, she has set a school record with 17 doubles and has added five home runs and 26 RBI. In the field, she has committed just four errors all season and boasts a .983 fielding average.

The Bears were represented on the second team by sophomore third baseman Candace Harper, who is batting .328 with 16 doubles, five home runs and 37 RBI. Harper was also a second-team choice last year.

Freshman first baseman Veronica Nelson was voted honorable mention. Nelson leads the Bears with a .342 average, and she has a school-record 12 home runs and an NCAA -record 78 walks this season.

Cal, 45-20 overall, wraps up the regular season with a doubleheader against No. 2 Arizona Saturday at 1 p.m. on Levine-Fricke Field.
