BERKELEY - Leading all players with 55 assists (13.75 aps) to set the pace for the Golden Bears to hit .260 against some of the top blockers in the Pac-10, setter Carli Lloyd logged her fourth double-double of the year, netting 12 digs on the day, to help California to a thrilling 3-1 victory over No. 4 Stanford, making the sophomore the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
In Sunday's win at Stanford, the first time Cal has won on the Farm since 1979, Lloyd also delivered stalwart defense with three blocks, one of them solo. Her 12 digs tied for second most on the team.
Lloyd's leadership on the court has helped the Bears to their best start in school history at 17-1 and has Cal on a hot streak with 12 consecutive wins. In addition, the Bears are off to a 7-0 start in Pac-10 play, tying a school record set by the 2002 squad and are now the lone holders of the top spot in the conference.
