B.J. Guinn

Former Cal baseball standout B.J. Guinn returns to the program as an undergraduate assistant. A switch-hitting middle infielder known for his slick glove, Guinn earned Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2010. He was drafted in the 11th round that year by the San Diego Padres and reached as high as Double-A in 2014. Overall, Guinn played five seasons in the Padres' organization. He also spent two seasons playing independent league ball for the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association and the Pittsburg Diamonds of the Pacific Association.

A local product who was born in Berkeley and attended Berkeley High School, Guinn majored in landscape architecture at Cal. Guinn's father, Brian, Sr., played in the Oakland A's, Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox organizations. His mother, Wendy, also attended Cal.
