Was drafted in the 15th round and signed with the Boston Red Sox after his junior year...came into his own during the 2009 season and contributed out of the bullpen...redshirted during the 2007 to recover from right knee surgery and tendonitis in his left shoulder...throws in the mid to high 80s with an outstanding curveball and change-up...

AS A JUNIOR (2009): Was 3-4 with a 4.74 ERA and a save in a team-high 28 appearances (6th in Pac-10)...had a team-high 69 strikeouts in 49.1 innings...had four strikeouts in 1.2 innings May 23 versus USC...had five strikeouts in 4.0 innings May 3 at Arizona...had two appearances April 24-26 versus Arizona State, striking out eight batters in 5.2 innings...threw a career-high 4.2 innings April 26 versus the Sun Devils...had four strikeouts in 2.1 innings April 11 at Washington...had three strikeouts in 1.2 innings (one hit, one walk) April 5 at Oregon State...won in relief March 23 versus Stanford (2.0 innings, three hits, two runs, three walks, six strikeouts)...had four strikeouts in 2.1 innings March 31 versus San Francisco...won in relief March 21 versus Stanford (2.0 innings, one hit, no runs, no walks, three strikeouts)...had six strikeouts in 3.0 innings March 17 at Pacific...earned save March 7 at Arkansas with a career-high seven strikeouts in 3.2 innings...had five strikeouts in 4.0 innings Feb.21 versus UC Riverside...

HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Monterey High School was a preseason All-American, second-team all-state and All-Monterey Bay League as a senior, batting .518 with six home runs, and 10-2 with three no-hitters on the mound...was rated the nation's eighth-best first baseman by Team One Baseball after an outstanding junior season...was named the 2004 Monterey Bay League Pitcher of the Year, going 11-3 with a 1.91 ERA, and had 136 strikeouts in 88.0 innings...also hit .659 with 15 home runs, tying the Central Coast Section home run record...was named to the All-Central Coast Section team, and was named the 2004 Junior Player of the Year by the San Jose Mercury News...majoring in American studies...parents are Tom and Clare Bugary...born October 11, 1987 in Boston, Mass.
