Cassidy Raher has been with Cal Athletics for over 20 years. As an Academic Advisor with the Athletic Study Center, Raher assists students with class scheduling, sets up proctors for exam conflicts, and helps monitor degree progress and NCAA eligibility benchmarks for incoming, transfer, and graduating student athletes. Every Spring, Cassidy hosts the annual Academic Honors Luncheon, an event celebrating the academic achievements of Cal's student athletes.Â
Raher grew up in San Francisco and was a 4-year member of the Cal Men's Basketball team, playing on both their 1997 Sweet 16 team and on their 1999 NIT Championship team. He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley before earning a Master's degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco.Â
Upon graduation, Cassidy worked in Cal's Media Relations department writing articles and stories for the Cal Sports Quarterly, as well as writing competition summaries for CalBears.com. Soon after, Cassidy joined the Cal Men's Basketball staff for several years helping the Bears with operations, scouting reports, and video breakdown in preparation for upcoming competitions, helping the Bears earn an NCAA post-season berth in 2002 and 2003.Â
He began his journey as an Academic Advisor in 2003 at USC before returning to the Bears in 2006 where he's been an Academic Advisor ever since.Â
