Matt Fox is in his 18th season as the director of video and technology at Cal in 2019.
Fox oversees and manages all video and technological operations for the football program, including researching and implementing the newest and most-advanced video technologies. He coordinates multi-cam content acquisition of football practices, games, clinics, banquets and other football events. He manages the use and instruction of all football specific software including XOS Thunder HD, Hudl, JumpForward, Teamworks, ThunderCloud Playbook and iPad coaching applications. Fox oversaw the facility design and technology integration for the $450M Student-Athlete High Performance Center. He also facilitates the acquisition and distribution of content for use by the Pac-12 Network, marketing and creative service departments at Cal.
In May of 2010, he was awarded with a UC Berkeley Campus Spot award. He also earned the Cal athletic department’s Shining Star Award in January of 2006.
In addition to his specific duties at Cal, Fox also served as a XOS Thunder Football development partner from 2008-09, and since 2011, Fox has served as a player tracking technology consultant for Sportsvision, Inc. He provides ongoing implementation strategies and opportunities on game equipment, insight on hardware integration at new and existing venues and he compiles and presents advanced player tracking statistics to coaches and players.
Prior to coming to Cal, Fox was an assistant video coordinator at TCU from 2001-02, and before that he was student video assistant while he was an undergrad at Oregon from 1999-01.
Fox received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, sports marketing from Oregon in 2001.
