Bryant did not play during his first three seasons at Cal from 2014-16 but was with the program through 2017 spring practices before leaving the team prior to the 2017 season. Bryant arrived at Cal in January of 2014 and first practiced with the team during its spring workouts later that year after greyshirting as a 2013 freshman. He put up huge numbers during his prep career at Reed High School with three-year varsity totals of 294 tackles, 29.0 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks and three interceptions for teams that compiled an overall record of 35-9 and a conference mark of 20-1 while reaching the Nevada state finals twice and winning the NIAA Division I Northern Regional title as a 2012 senior.

• Picked up a season-high-tying 14 tackles twice as a junior vs. McQueen and Reno
• Had seven tackles in his lone game played as a 2010 sophomore for a team that finished 9-3 overall and 7-1 in conference action, reaching the second round of the Class 4A playoffs before finishing the season ranked No. 10 in Nevada according to MaxPreps
