A former offensive lineman at Cal for the 2015-16 campaigns, Benji Palu is in his sixth season as part of the Cal staff in 2022 and his first season as the Director of Recruiting after serving the three campaigns from 2019-21 as the director of on-campus recruiting. He was previously an assistant director of recruiting in 2018 and a recruiting volunteer in 2017.
In his current role, Palu's responsibilities include connecting recruits and parents during on-campus visits, as well as setting up, executing and being the host of the visits.
In 2017, shortly after graduating from Cal, Palu joined the staff as a volunteer with his role consisting of helping out with football operations and recruiting. He assisted with cutting game film of high school recruits for the coaching staff. In 2018, Palu officially became a full-time member of the staff, playing a key role with setting up and arranging coaching visits with recruits.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Palu played his first two collegiate seasons at the College of San Mateo after graduating from Burlingame High School.
Palu graduated from Cal in 2017 with a Bachelor's in legal studies.
