Karen De Loy is entering her third season as director of creative content with the women’s basketball team after joining the program in June 2021. Prior to Cal, she spent the previous eight years in graphic design, traditional and social media marketing and video production capacities across various sectors including technology and non-profit.
At Cal, De Loy leverages her social media strategy and brand marketing expertise to lead creative direction and content creation that supports a number of areas for the program including recruiting, promotion of student-athletes and coaches, special events and game days.
During her time with the program, she led the rebranding of the 38-year old Cal Classic tournament to the Raising The B.A.R. Invitational, helped significantly increase the reach of the team’s social media platforms and redesigned the look and feel of the team’s brand identity.
De Loy received her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and film from San Jose State University and was also a walk-on for the Spartans’ women’s basketball team her freshman year.
