Lorna Brownlie joined the Golden Bear staff in spring 2020 as a volunteer assistant after spending the previous five seasons (2015-19) as an assistant coach at Pacific. Among other coaching duties, she will work primarily with the Bears goalkeepers and defenders.
Brownlie is a former NAIA All-American goalkeeper at the University of Mobile before going on to be a graduate assistant on Auburn University at Montgomery's coaching staff in 2013 and 2014. In 2014-15, Brownlie stood in as the interim head coach at Auburn University at Montgomery and led the Warhawks to a 10-8-1 record and the semifinals of the SSAC Tournament for the first time since 2010.
Brownlie joined the Warhawks after playing professionally for the Bay Area Breeze in the Women's Premier Soccer League. She played in the WPSL for three consecutive summers. In 2011, Brownlie played for the Gulf Coast Texans, where she was the team's Player of the Year and the Sunshine Division Goalkeeper of the Year. In addition to her summer professional experience, Brownlie was a standout performer for the University of Mobile in 2010 and 2011.
Brownlie also coached the goalkeepers for W-League team LA Blues Soccer Club in summer 2014. That season, LA Blues SC won the 2014 USL W-League Championship and compiled a 15-0-0 record while outscoring opponents 62-6.
As a senior for the Rams in 2012, she started all 24 games in goal and finished with an outstanding 20-3-1 record. She registered nine shutouts, allowing only 24 goals on the season and making 103 saves. After the season, Brownlie was named a Third-Team NAIA All-American, while also receiving First Team All-Southern States Athletic Conference honors. She made the All-SSAC Tournament team after leading Mobile to the conference championship game.
Brownlie tallied a 12-6-1 record in her junior season, with seven shutouts in 19 games. While at Mobile, Brownlie worked as an assistant soccer coach at Bayside Academy in Daphne, Ala. Prior to joining Mobile, Brownlie played at Division I school Jacksonville University for two seasons.
A Glasgow, Scotland native, Brownlie was a member of Scotland's U15, U17 and U19 National teams. She earned her bachelor's degree in human performance and exercise science and a master's in exercise science and kinesiology at, AUM graduating with honors and a 4.0 GPA.
Brownlie holds her UEFA B License from the Welsh FA.
Brownlie resides in Santa Clara, with her wife Gina Carbonatto.
