FRESNO, Calif. - Offense was the name of the game for the No. 1/2 California softball team rained 14 runs off 13 hits against Butler en route to a 14-1 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday evening at Fresno State's Bayer CropScience Classic.

The 14 runs tie a season-high and improve the Golden Bears to 19-0 while Butler drops to 4-9.

Things opened up in the top of the first, when Valerie Arioto hit a 230-foot bomb to center field.

The Golden Bears tacked on five in the top of the third, four in the fourth and one more for good measure in the fifth. Butler avoided the shutout with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Valerie Arioto, Jace Williams, Elia Reid and Jolene Henderson all knocked in two runs apiece while LaRisa Jones, Victoria Jones, Cheyenne Cordes and Danielle Henderson all had one RBI each. Arioto scored a team-high four runs.

Valerie Arioto pitched the one-hitter, fanning eight in 5.0 innings with no earned runs.

Breanna Fisher dropped to 1-3 after allowing four earned runs and eight hits, striking out five Bears in 3.0 innings. Leah Bry gave up five earned runs on five hits and three walks in her 2.0 innings of work.
