HONOLULU - The No. 1/2 California softball team notched its 24th of the season thanks to a 1-0 win over Marist on Friday afternoon. The Golden Bears scored their sole run in the bottom of the third to move to 24-1 overall.

After Frani Echavarria had a lead-off single and then stole second, Britt Vonk brought her home by singling through the right side.

Valerie Arioto pitched a four-inning win, walking just one and striking out five.

"It wasn't my best performance," Arioto said. "Energy was a little low, but we pulled through with a win! It was a learning experience and tomorrow is a new day!"

"Today, we just overcame fatigue," Henderson said. "It was all about getting the win. We just need to stay relaxed and play like we have been playing."

The Red Foxes outhit the Bears, 6-5, and left eight runners on base as compared to Cal's six. Echavarria tallied a team-high two hits while Jamia Reid, Britt Vonk and Danielle Henderson all notched one apiece. Arioto and Cheyenne Cordestallied two walks.
