BERKELEY – A pair of goals equalized the day for California men's soccer.
Â
Two second-half scores by junior Jose Carerra-Garcia were enough to hold off an Oregon State comeback on Thursday evening in Corvallis, Ore., as the Golden Bears tied 2-2 after double overtime in their second conference game.
Â
Carrera-Garcia's first nod came in the 60' matching Nathan Braaten of the Beavers to tie the game 1-1, and then the Cal forward found the back of the net again in the 65' giving the Bears a 2-1 lead.
Â
Despite nine saves by freshman goalie
Drake Callender, OSU tied with a goal by Sam Tweeton in the 75' to secure extended play. Both teams remained scoreless in the twenty minutes of extra play.
Â
The Bears continue their conference trip with a game on Sunday against No. 16 Washington in Seattle, Wash., at 5 p.m.
