BERKELEY – It always rains in Seattle, Wash.
This time it fell on California's parade as the Golden Bears fell 2-1 to the 16th-ranked Washington Huskies on Sunday.
The Bears are now 4-4-2 after a four-game road stretch that included a 3-2 win over a then 25th-ranke Santa Barbara, a 1-0 loss to Stanford in both teams' conference opener and a 2-2 draw with Oregon State.
Cal sophomore
Spencer Held netted an equalizer in the 56' to tie things at 1 apiece, after Washington's Luke Hauswirth knocked one in early on in the ninth minute.
Unfortunately, the tie was short-lived for the Bears as Huskies' Quentin Pearson scored less than 30 seconds after Held.
Cal's aggressive play nearly matched that of their conference foe recording 11 shots, four on goal compared to 13 and five, respectively.
Freshman
Drake Callender started the last two games and finished with three saves against Washington.
The Bears return home after four consecutive road games to host UCLA in their first home match in Pac-12 play on Oct. 13.
