LAS VEGAS – The Cal women's basketball closed out its non-conference schedule with an 80-55 win over Arkansas State on Wednesday night at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas to remain perfect on the season. At 12-0, the Golden Bears have extended their program-best start and matched the second-longest winning streak in Cal women's basketball history.
Sophomore center
Kristine Anigwe continued her dominant start to the season, leading all scorers with 39 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for her second 30-point, 15-rebound performance in as many nights. Anigwe now has six career 30-point games, tied for the second-most by any player in Cal women's basketball history, and her three 30-point performances this year are second-most by any player in the Pac-12 this season. The 6'4" center averaged 29.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game in the Bears three wins in Las Vegas, despite averaging only 27.7 minutes per game over the stretch.
Cal opened the game on a 6-0 run and outscored the Red Wolves 21-11 in the opening quarter. Anigwe got to work early, scoring 13 points in first quarter as the Bears outscored Arkansas State 20-0 in the paint. Senior forward
Courtney Range scored her 1,000
th career point in the first quarter, becoming the 27
th player in Cal women's basketball history to reach the milestone. Range finished the night with 11 points and eight rebounds.
For the game, the Bears outscored Arkansas State in the paint, 62-12, and 22-9 on second chance points, as Anigwe pulled down a career-best nine offensive rebounds.
The Bears led by 11 at the half and grew the lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Red Wolves 25-14 in the third period. Cal shot 56.5 percent from the field on the night, the fifth time this season the Bears have shot 56 percent or better from the floor.

Mikayla Cowling matched her season-high with eight assists, while also adding five steals and six rebounds.

The Bears will be back in action on December 29, kicking off the Pac-12 season at Arizona (6 p.m. PT). The Bears and Wildcats split both meetings last year, with each team winning on their home court. Cal went 4-14 in Pac-12 play last season, finishing 10
th in the regular season standings. The Bears were picked to finish sixth this season in both the preseason media and coaches polls.
