Cal Falls In MPSF Opener To Oregon, 18-9

EUGENE, Ore. - Caroline Schlegel scored a career-high four goals, her second straight multi-goal performance, but the California women's lacrosse team lost in its MPSF opener at Oregon, 18-9, Sunday afternoon in Eugene, Ore. The Golden Bears fell to 0-2, 0-1 on the year.

The Bears started the game strong with two goals by Schlegel and Parker Garrett's first goal of 2017 to give Cal a 3-2 lead halfway through the first half. But the Ducks then went on an 11-0 run that extended into the second half to take a stranglehold of the contest.

Late in the second half, the Cal offense got its groove back with four goals in the span of six minutes, two of which were scored by Schlegel.

True freshman Susie Ropp notched her first career goal with two assists. Elizabeth Pellechi matched Ropp with a goal and two assists herself.

Caroline Corzel scored her first goal of the season halfway through the second half, along with two draws, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
