BERKELEY – Awards season continues to produce honors for Cal juniors Tanner Dodson and Jonah Davis as Dodson has been named an All-American by D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game/Rawlings while Davis was selected as an All-Region performer by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Having recently been drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the second compensatory round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Dodson collected third team utility honors from D1Baseball and was named honorable mention utility by Perfect Game.

Named as a finalist for the prestigious John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award as well as an All-Pac-12 selection, Dodson impacted the Bears in a number of ways in 2018. That started at the plate where he hit .320 with 12 doubles, 40 runs scored, 27 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. He was also one of the premier outfield defenders in the conference, compiling a .993 fielding percentage with 10 assists to earn a spot on the Pac-12 All-Defensive team.

Dodson doubled as Cal's closer and combined electric stuff with good command to have a tremendous year out of the bullpen. The right-hander set the Cal single-season saves record with 11 and compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.47 ERA in 19 appearances. Dodson struck out 35 and walked only seven in 40 innings pitched.

Davis earned a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings West All-Region first team thanks to a breakout season as Cal's left fielder. He joined Andrew Vaughn as Cal's representatives on the ABCA team, which is voted on by West region coaches, and was recently selected in the 15th round of the MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A native of La Jolla, Calif., Davis established himself as one of the nation's premier power hitters, belting 14 home runs for a total that would have won the Pac-12 home run crown in 2017. His contributions certainly weren't confined to the long ball as he hit .321, good for second on the team, with nine doubles, two triples, 48 runs scored and 58 RBIs. He slugged .606 and had an on-base percentage of .446, both of which ranked in the top 10 in the conference.

Davis also joins impressive company in earning a spot on the all-region team. He is the first Cal outfielder to be named first team since Matt Luke in 1992 and he becomes just the sixth Golden Bear outfielder ever to earn the honor, joining Luke, Jim Corcoran (1970), John Derdivanis (1954), Jackie Jensen (1949) and John Fiscalini (1947).
