Alonzo Del Mundo broke a tie with his second goal of the season in the 69
th minute and the Cal men's soccer team got by Delaware 2-1 on Friday evening at Edwards Stadium.
Del Mundo completed a run by easily poking in a perfect cross from
Francisco Perez for his first career game-winning goal. It was Perez's second assist of the year.
The Bears (4-1-1) scored first on senior
Shinya Kadono's Pac-12 leading sixth goal of the season, an unassisted job from just outside the box. Kadono also leads the conference with 14 points.
The Blue Hens (1-4) tied it in the 56
th minute on a goal by Halvard Ramstad following a corner kick.
Each team finished the match with seven shots.
The Bears returned to its winning ways after a 0-0 draw Sunday against UC Riverside in which the team played without several key players.
"We were overall sharper today than we were on Sunday," Cal head coach
Kevin Grimes said. "I still think we've got a better game ahead of us as well. We're continuing to do well with recovery of injuries and getting guys back in the lineup. I think we're on the right path. Today was a good step."
The Bears are back at Edwards Stadium on Sunday when they host No. 15 UMass Lowell at 2 p.m.
