BERKELEY – California men's soccer concludes the regular season when the Golden Bears battle No. 4 Stanford in Thursday's Big Clasico on the Farm. The game takes place at 7 p.m. at Cagan Stadium, which was also the site of Cal's 1-0 upset of the sixth-ranked Cardinal in the 2018 finale.

The Bears, who fell to Stanford, 2-1, on Sept. 20 in Berkeley, bring a 7-6-3 record (3-4-2 in the Pac-12) into Thursday's second match of the season series. The Cardinal is 13-1-3 (6-1-2 Pac-12).

Last Time: Cal Upsets UW Before Fall At OSU
Cal upset No. 1 Washington for its biggest win of the season on Nov. 7 in Seattle, with
Alonzo Del Mundo netting the gamewinner in the 79th minute. But the Bears lost at Oregon State, 1-0, on Nov. 10 to come away with a split on its Pacific Northwest trip.

Grimes Becomes Cal's Winningest Soccer Coach
With Cal's 1-0 win at Washington, Cal head coach
Kevin Grimes became the school's winningest men's soccer head coach with 203 victories. He was previously tied at 202 with the late Bob DiGrazia, who led Cal's program from 1952-80. On Sept. 28, Grimes earned his 200th win thanks to a 2-0 result over San Francisco in Berkeley.

Jonathan Estrada gave the California men's soccer team an eighth-minute, 1-0 lead over second-ranked Stanford in the Sept. 20 Big Clasico at Edwards Stadium. But the Cardinal tied the game, 1-1, in the 40th minute and got an unassisted strike from Gabe Segal in the 70th minute that sealed a 2-1 loss for the Golden Bears in each team's Pac-12 Conference opener.
Carr Inducted Into Cal Hall Of Fame
Calen Carr became the latest Cal men's soccer alumnus to be inducted into the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame on Nov. 8 inside the Pauley Ballroom in Berkeley. The Oakland, California, product is also the first
Kevin Grimes protégé to enter Cal's Hall of Fame. As a senior in 2005, Carr claimed the Pac-10 Player of the Year honor, posted 13 goals and four assists, and led Cal to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time. Carr also earned the 2005 Pac-10 Conference Medal for his performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

He played professionally in MLS with the Chicago Fire (he was a Fire first-round draft pick) and the Houston Dynamo from 2006-13, recording 16 goals and nine assists. Carr had arguably his best season in 2012, when he started in 17 of 26 games and scored a career-best four goals along with two assists. He added one goal – the opening goal in the 2012 MLS Cup – and two assists in the playoffs.

Carr currently works for MLS as a digital correspondent and producer. He's the online host and producer of "The Movement" documentary series on MLSSoccer.com and a host of the league's Extratime Radio Podcast. In 2018, "The Movement" earned the Gold Telly Award for Non-Broadcast Sports and the Bronze Telly Award for Online Documentary Webseries.Â

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in September. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to vote on theÂ
Senior CLASS Award website through Nov. 18, 2019. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup ® championships later this fall.
