Bears Continue Season At Aztec Invitational
Cal Track & Field Hopes To Continue Record-Setting Streak

BERKELEY – After last weekend's stunning performances, California track & field is ready to improve upon its marks at this weekend's Aztec Invitational, hosted in San Diego at San Diego State's Aztrack Sports Deck from March 25-26. The men's decathlon will begin on Friday at 9:00 a.m. PT, while Saturday's events also kick off at 9:00 a.m. with the women's javelin throw.
The Bears will face athletes from Air Force, Alaska Anchorage, Boise State, BYU, Cal State San Marcos, Nevada, New Mexico State, Oregon, Palomar College, host San Diego State, Tufts, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and Western Washington.
In their last outing, the Bears added five new marks to their program's all-time top 10 lists, led by
Mykolas Alekna's NCAA-leading discus throw of 62.63m (205-6), a Cal freshman record and third-best by any Golden Bear in history.
Anna Purchase took further command of the Cal's second-best women's hammer throw mark with a toss of 67.25m (220-7), good for second in the NCAA, while the women's 4x100m squad of
Jenea Spinks,
Ezinne Abba,
Maisie Stevens and
Aysha Shaheed finished their race in 44.51 to move up to fourth on the program list.
Jazlynn Shearer's 100m hurdles time of 13.55 currently ranks 4th in school history, while
Busola Akinduro leapt 12.82m (42-0.75) in the women's triple jump to tie for 10
th all-time at Cal.
