Cal Falls At Arizona State, 15-6

Six Golden Bears Pick Up One Goal Each

TEMPE – The Cal lacrosse team dropped a 15-6 decision against Arizona State (4-8, 3-4 Pac-12) on Sunday at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium. Six different Golden Bears scored in the contest with Hanna Deringer, Josie Lillquist, Kennedy Mason, Quinnlyn Mason, Kate Rothman and Mya Wang each picking up a single goal. The Bears assisted on five of their six goals with Avery Hoeft, Maya Lawliss, Quinnlyn Mason, Caroline Roxas and Wang and getting one apiece.

Kennedy Goss had a pair of draw controls to increase her career total to 177 and move within one of Cal's all-time record-holder LizaBanks Campagna (178, 2018-21).

The Bears played three goalkeepers with Riley Drullinger (10 GA, 4 SV) getting the start and playing the entire first half before Alicia Souliotis (3 GA, 3 SV) was in net for the third quarter and Chloe Rand (2 GA, 3 SV) for the fourth. Katie Vahle (2 GA, 6 SV) played the first three periods in goal for the Sun Devils to earn the victory.

Arizona State's Berit Brookfield had a game-high three goals, while Kayon Buckner's four points on two goals and two assists were the most by any player. Nine different Sun Devils had goals including five with two or more.

Arizona State converted 4-of-8 free position shots, while the Bears were 0-for-1. The Sun Devils also held decisive advantages in shots (33-15), shots on goal (25-14), ground balls (13-7), caused turnovers (6-4) and draw controls (16-7). Cal drew 19 fouls, while Arizona State committed only seven.

Cal (3-10, 1-6 Pac-12) is scheduled to play its final regular-season road game of the season in a non-conference outing Saturday at UC Davis (7-4). First draw is slated for 1 pm PDT.
