SAN FRANCISCO – The California men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 3-0 at San Francisco's Negoesco Stadium on Sunday night.

The Golden Bears' record now stands at 3-1-2 after the nonconference result. USF is 3-1-1.

The Dons got on the scoreboard in the 29th minute, when T.J. Knight scored during a goalmouth scrum after a corner kick. USF led 1-0.

With Cal in search of the equalizer, USF scored on a counterattack in the 37th minute, as Gabriel Bracken Serra scored from 20 yards out.

The Bears trailed 2-0 at halftime.

In the 59th minute, a foul in the Cal penalty area led to a penalty kick for USF, and Bracken Serra converted the PK to make the score 3-0.

Cal returns to Berkeley to host its Pac-12 opener vs. Oregon State on Thursday at 3 p.m. PT, and the Bears continue conference play on Sunday at 2 p.m. when they host No. 25 Washington at Edwards Stadium.
